Well hello there! Name is Savannah, and welcome to my blog. I’m in my late twenties, and I am happily married to my favorite person on Earth. I love to knit, sew, read, write, hike, camp, travel, learn…I could increase the list with many more hobbies. I am a pretty busy person with all my interests, and I have a zest for life mingled with depression that I am working on overcoming. That is why I decided to name my blog “A Healing Traveler”.
I love to travel, it’s one of my favorite pastimes, and I am also on an inner journey to heal from mental illness and my past. Yep, I’m a recovering addict, and I’ve got mental illness. I’ve had many diagnoses over the years, including depression, schizoaffective disorder, and the latest, bipolar disorder. I don’t let my mental illness define me though. When I’m not hiking, you can find me reading Christian self-help books, going to counseling, praying, and generally working on my mental and spiritual health. I’m determined to overcome and not stay stuck in my shame and sorrow.
Here on my blog you’ll find posts from me about everything from backpacking to Jesus. I am a Christian, however I hope to make this blog feel welcoming and friendly to anyone, regardless of their religious beliefs or lack thereof. A big portion of my blog’s purpose is to share about my journey to mental, physical, spiritual, emotional and financial health. However, that doesn’t mean I won’t be posting about other things too. I loosely categorized it under “life”, because I’ll be sharing about knitting and sewing and weight loss, and other things too.
Back in 2017 I became certified as a weight and lifestyle management specialist by NESTA, and I also have a certificate in Beginning Herbal Studies from The Herbal Academy from around the same time. I have a diploma in Dressmaking and Design from Penn Foster Career School, and I am in my third year of University technically, but I’m taking a break from college right now to figure myself out. I spent a year in Bible college at Lee University between 2016-2017, which was amazing.
Currently, I am considered obese. I weigh in at 203 pounds at the time of writing this, and I am working on getting down to my ideal weight in a healthy way. I’ll be sharing about that aspect of my healing journey frequently.
My two biggest loves in life are God and my husband. I still have yet to finish the whole Bible, and that’s a goal of mine. I’ve read a decent bit of it however, and have finished the whole New Testament. I’ll be posting about my studies in the Bible too.
Thank you very much for taking the time to visit my blog, and I wish you blessings and healing and joy. My hope is that you’ll find encouragement and comfort through reading my posts, and enjoy reading them.
